Kingdom Culture Music Review: Take It Higher by JClay
Updated: Jan 19
JClay's cadence and vocal quality are well embodied in the composition of the song creating a wave of chill vibes. The drums on this track are simple and melodic, creating a kicked-back, contemplative feel. The lyrics are equally uncomplicated, but deep and mindful. True to the name of the song “Take It Higher”, challenges the us to re-examine out thoughts about time, death, perceptions of one another and ourselves.
The engineering is on par having created a mix that compliments the message. The most poignant parts of his lyrics are emphasized when the beat goes silent and seamlessly re-emerges. The echoes are well placed for emphasis. The intro could be a bit more elaborate, but overall it’s the song is dope.
